PM Modi Remembers Lata Didi for Coming Raksha Bandhan, during Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award ceremony


April 24, 2022, marks the 80th death anniversary of Master Deenanath Mangeshkar, father of Nightingale of India. On this occasion, the inaugural ceremony of the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award took place at Mumbai's Shanmukhanand Hall.

Delhi, New Delhi, 25th April 2022: In the loving memory of Late Lata Mangeshkar, the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award is instituted in its 1st founding year to one such individual who has made spectacular and path-breaking sacrifices for the welfare of the nation and its people. There could not be any other name than PM Modi. His contributions to making India a world leader are not hidden and are not something new for us to know about. The outstanding progress our motherland has seen in thousand years is only because of the most dynamic leader we have.

The love and affection between PM Modi and Lata Mangeshkar can be seen in several incidents like -

Mangeshkar, who died earlier in the day at the age of 92, used to wish him on Raksha Bandhan every year and had expressed grief when she couldn't give him Rakhi due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The prime minister recounted a telephonic chat with her before leaving for his trip to the United States on an episode of 'Mann Ki Baat.' He described it as "like a little brother affectionately speaking to an elder sister." Modi remembered his personal bond with the legendary singer, who was awarded the Bharat Ratna, and how she always treated him to Gujarati delicacies whenever he had the opportunity to see her.

Later in the Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar Puraskar Samaroh, remembering his elder and most loving sister, Lata didi, he added, “This year’s Raksha Bandhan will be incomplete without her blessings, love, and affection. She has always been the symbol of love and oneness for me.”

Narendra Damodardas Modi, one of the greatest leaders our planet has ever seen, was conferred the 1st Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award. After her demise, the honorable and lovable prime minister paid his tribute to Lata Didi. He said of the accolade, “Lata Didi, the voice of patriotic India, had a very selfless dedication to the nation. Her life was dedicated to her music and her nation. As Lata Didi belonged to the people, this prize handed to me in her name also belongs to the people".
