During the partition of Bengal in 1905, Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore began a mass Raksha Bandhan festival. He encouraged Hindus and Musilms women to tie a Rakhi on men from the other community, thus making them their brothers. The Rakhi festival was celebrated to instill a feeling of togetherness and love between Hindus and Musilms.
